Physical Therapist, MS Manual Therapy, Strength & Conditioning, Triathlon Italian Federation certified coach
Riccardo was born in Milan in 1982.
Since he was a child he developed an interest in endurance sports from a young age and began competing in cycling.
In 2006, Riccardo graduated with a BSc in physical therapy from the University of Pavia (Italy) with a thesis was centered on neuro-cognitive rehabilitation in post-surgical cancer patients.
After completing his degree, he decided to expand his knowledge and skills further, particularly in the areas of spinal health and biomechanics related to cycling, running and triathlon.
In 2015, he completed a MS in Manual Therapy. This qualification allowed him to join the teaching team of the Manual Therapy Study Group (GSTM).
Shortly thereafter, he relocated to the UK, working as the Lead Physiotherapist at Total Rehab Solutions (UK). In this role, he worked in clinics across Swindon, Bath, and Trowbridge, focusing on patients suffering from chronic spinal pain, especially athletes.
Despite returning to Italy in 2016, he didn't stop his passion for learning. He took on the role of head of pre- and post-surgical spinal rehabilitation at Spine Health in Como (Italy) starting his training in Strength & Conditioning, and becoming a certified coach for the Triathlon Italian Federation.
In 2020, Riccardo had the honor of participating as the only physical therapist at the Third Yemen Neurosurgery Conference, presenting his work: “The Decision Making Process in surgical or conservative treatment for Spine Disorder: a New Algorithm”.
In the meantime, he received a certification as Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy Specialist and joined the faculty of the MS in Manual Therapy issued by the GSTM. He held the position of Coordinator for the Study and Research Unit focused on the knee, running, and therapeutic exercise until 2023. His role involved not only teaching but also mentoring future physical therapists in joining the Evidence-Based medicine as gold standard for developing effective rehabilitation programs.
Currently, Riccardo is dedicated to sports physical therapy for endurance athletes and spinal rehabilitation, continually seeking to enhance his expertise in Strength & Conditioning, biomechanics, and athlete management. His passion for athletics drives him to participate in numerous international events in triathlon and trail running, allowing him to apply his knowledge firsthand and stay connected to the sports community.
Riccardo joined the Sports Rehab team in December 2024.
